German

Learning a language is about much more than vocab and conjugations. It’s a direct path to understanding a different culture.

Language shapes the way we understand each other and provides new perspectives, and an appreciation of multicultural thinking and inclusivity.

German offers pupils access to a rich heritage and to world-famous arts, philosophy, science, and literature. It can also give them a competitive edge in the global careers market.

Our approach

Our approach to teaching German prioritises active participation and effective communication.

We provide each pupil with the tools they need to flourish in a learning environment that’s challenging and fun. They learn to adapt to diverse environments, develop clearer communication skills and problem-solving capabilities.

The German curriculum

The curriculum plunges pupils into the language and culture through activities and hands-on learning. It focuses on developing essential language skills, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing, and developing cultural understanding and appreciation.

Beyond Bryanston

The language skills and cultural understanding our pupils cultivate unlock a world of opportunities. Universities and employers value German language skills, making our pupils sought-after candidates in today’s competitive job market.

Many of our pupils continue their German language journey at university, pursuing German studies, linguistics, international relations, marketing, or business degrees.

Others pursue international opportunities, with internships or work experience in German-speaking countries. This can lead them towards careers in translation and interpretation, business, and diplomacy.
