PSRE

We are committed to providing an extensive programme of Personal, Social and Relationship (PSRE), which includes health, citizenship, mental, economic and physical development education.

PSRE is understood and respected by academic and boarding staff, parents and, most importantly, the pupils.

We create a diverse programme that evolves and supports pupils through their learning journey at Bryanston and life beyond.

PSRE Programme

Throughout the PSRE curriculum pupils are encouraged to be expressive with their thoughts and engaged with their learning.

Lessons are interactive, dynamic, practical and easily adaptable to different learning styles.

PSRE is a planned programme of learning though which pupils acquire the knowledge, understanding, strategies, skills and confidence they need to manage their lives.

As part of a whole school approach, it develops the qualities and attributes pupils need to thrive as individuals, family members and members of society.

The Personal, Social, Relationship Education is delivered across the school in timetabled lessons until B and via Current Affairs and enrichment opportunities in the sixth form. The aim of the programme is to equip pupils with the knowledge and skills to make informed decisions and understand the consequences and impact of their actions and decisions.

We follow a thematic curriculum which covers topics under the main headings of Healthy Lifestyles, Relationships and Living in the Wider World, and we follow the national Government guidelines for RSE. Lessons are delivered by teaching staff from across the common room bringing a wealth of experience to the programme. In the sixth form, PSRE content is delivered via timetabled weekly Current Affairs in A2 and through internal and external speakers for the A3 pupils. As part of our 1-2-1 tutoring system, tutors will also support elements of the programme in tutorials such as careers, and other elements of the curriculum are covered across other subjects / areas of the school.
