How to Apply

We suggest your first visit should be as part of a group visit on a Friday or Saturday morning. During these visits you will tour the school, visit and meet House Parents in one of our Boarding Houses and have an opportunity to meet academic staff.

Alternatively you are welcome to visit on a personal visit at a time to suit you.

We encourage families to register when your child is in Year 5 as the admissions process commences when your child is in Year 6 for Year 9 entry.

Registration is simple and is completed online where you can also upload latest school reports and also securely pay the registration fee.  Please complete the Year 9 registration form.

The Year 9 scholarship entry deadline is in the Autumn Term of when your child is in Year 8, with the assessments taking place in the Spring Term of Year 8.

Year 9 scholarship awards range in value from honorary up to a maximum of 10% of the fees.

Bursaries are also available and can be applied for in conjunction with scholarships or in isolation.  All bursaries are means-tested and conducted through a third-party organisation.

All registered pupils sit a GL Assessment CAT 4 test.  There isn’t an Entrance Exam day and if your child has sat the CAT4 at their current school they will provide us with the results. If not, we will arrange your child to sit the test at Bryanston or if you are overseas we can make appropriate arrangements.

An important element of our admissions process is our Imagine Day. These are group assessment days were children join us taking part in activities to assess their communication, creative thinking and problem solving skills. This assessment replaces the traditional interview.

Once a places has been offered and accepted a tutor allocation meeting will take place to help us understand more about their academic interests, sports, hobbies and other activities to ensure that we match a tutor who will best suit your child’s personality and interests.

There are around 80 places for boys and around 55 places for girls in Year 9 (D).

There are five girls’ houses, five senior boys’ houses and two junior boys’ houses. The boys spend their first year in a junior house with boys of the same age and are promoted to their senior house in friendship groups at the end of the first year.

We do our best to make the process as similar to an in-person application as possible.

Children based overseas will be invited to an online Imagine Day (part of the assessment process if your child is in the equivalent to a UK Year 6 & 7 place) or interview, and we would request CAT4 and EAL (English as an additional Language) assessments are taken. These can be invigilated by their current school, educational agent, British Consulate or Lawyers Office or we can invigilate online if the other options are not possible.

The first step of our admissions process for Sixth Form is to attend one of our Information Session that include:

• Talks from our Assistant Head of Sixth Form, Liz Thornton and our Head, Richard Jones
• A tour of the School with a Sixth Form pupil
• An opportunity to talk to Heads of Department about subject specifics

The Information Sessions run from 2.30pm – 5.30pm

• Saturday 14th September
• Wednesday 2nd October
• Monday 9th September online with overseas applicant focus (10am and 7pm)

If you cannot attend one of these Information Sessions you are always welcome to visit for a tour to get to know Bryanston.

The next steps to join our Sixth Form are:

1. Applications (General and Scholarship Entry) for Sixth Form should be made online before the entry closing date on Monday 14th October for September 2025 entry
2. Pupils attend one of three Test and Interview Days on 5th, 8th and 14th November with the outcome of the application being communicated at the beginning of December
3. Scholarship Assessment dates are held the week beginning 18th November
4. If you have missed this process but still wish for your child to join Sixth Form, please contact the Admissions team in the first instance to confirm whether there are still spaces available

Numbers vary each year, but we usually admit between 20 and 30 pupils.

Candidates sit GL Assessments CAT4. In addition, pupils are expected to achieve 40 or more GCSE points. International pupils should have IELTS at 6.0 or equivalent. Most heads of department recommend at least a grade 7 at GCSE for subjects relevant to Sixth Form study.

We offer wide range of A Level subjects, the IB and CTEC Level 2.

Means-tested bursaries are available for entrants into year 9 and 12.  If applying to Year 10 please contact the Admissions Team to discuss.

It is always best to contact the Admissions team to discuss joining Bryanston before you register for a place.

Once you have had an initial discussion you can register for a place online and securely pay the registration fee.

We will ask for latest school reports and a copy of your child’s passport which can be uploaded at the point of registration.

All pupils will follow our normal CAT4 testing procedure and for those for whom English is not their first language they will also sit an EAL English online test, and will have an interview.

This is a simple, quick process and can all be conducted online or in person if visiting Bryanston.

If a child does not hold a British passport, they may need to apply for a Child Pupil Visa to study in the UK.

If your child has an EU, EEA or Swiss passport and were living in the UK before 31 December 2020 you will need to have applied for pre-settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme before 30 June 2021 to enable your child to continue to live and study in the UK.
