This week, Bryanston was honoured to receive an award from the Dorset County Football Association for its exceptional commitment to promoting girls’ football. The recognition forms part of the prestigious Equal Access Schools initiative.
Bryanston’s football programme is designed to inspire and engage girls of all ages and abilities. Throughout the academic year, it provides opportunities for pupils to compete, train and develop their passion for the sport.
Mark Foster, Head of Football at Bryanston, said, “Football’s global appeal lies in its inclusivity, bridging divides across gender, sexuality, ethnicity, age and ability. We are honoured to receive this recognition from the Dorset County FA, which is a testament to the enthusiasm and dedication of all our pupils, whether they engage in football competitively or socially.”
In the Spring term, girls have access to football training three times per week, with the 1st and 2nd XI teams competing in the South-West Girls Independent Schools (SWGIS) league, as well as house football tournaments and extra-curricular activities.
As part of its ongoing efforts to promote sports for girls, Bryanston is hosting the second annual 2025 Sports Conference, in collaboration with The Powerhouse Project, focused on empowering women and girls through sport. The event will take place on Friday 14th March and welcomes girls from across Dorset in Year 8 and above to join in. They will have the opportunity to meet industry-leading women from across Sports Media, Sports Coaching, Sports Business and Sports Wellbeing. More details can be found here.
The Powerhouse Project is dedicated to using the power of sport to empower women and through their work they have partnered with some of the biggest powerhouses in sport to make true impact including Nike, The Football Association, Right to Dream and the Global Institute of Sport.
