Bryanston provides over 100 recipe bags for Blandford Food Bank

11 October 2024

Pupils have been busy collecting both cottage pie and tuna pasta ingredients from pupils, parents and staff for Blandford Food Bank. Pupils put together the recipe bags and we are delighted to have given over 100 complete bags to the food bank so that families in need in the local community can cook and eat balanced, nutritious meals.

We have incorporated our food bank initiative into this week’s celebration of Harvest Festival. Chaplain Revd. Jo Davis and Head of Charities Prefect Tamara H led an Assembly at the beginning of the week to reflect on Harvest Festival as a celebratory time of year when crops have been gathered from the field and people can show gratitude for the food that they have. It dates back a long time in history to when people relied on crops for food and farmers wanted to show their thanks for a good harvest.

Head of Charities and Community Engagement Doc Fearnley commented: “Humanity and a sense of community is at the heart of what we do at Bryanston. Our pupils need to be sensitive to the struggles that so many people face and realise that we all have a moral responsibility to come together to provide help in any way we can.”
