In the lead up to Bryanston’s renowned annual Charities Weekend, Year 10 (C) business studies pupils took part in the 10X Challenge. The initiative gave iGCSE Business pupils the chance to pitch their creative business ideas to a panel, comprised of the Head of Entrepreneurship & Innovation (E&I) and members of the school marketing team.
The pitches showcased a variety of innovative ideas including henna tattoos, football challenges, freeze dried sweets, hair accessories, protective Apple Pencil cases, delicious cookies and sandwiches.
Each team was tasked with creating a logo, conducting market research, running cost and pricing analysis to consider their break-even point and understanding the practical and logistical implications of running a stall to raise money for charity. They were also evaluated on their fundraising potential, marketing strategies and presentation skills.
The winning teams, NexoPrint, Cookie Cookie, Sweet and Sour, BryBakery and Sweet Treats had the opportunity to run their stalls at the Charities Fair, collectively raising over £500 in sales.
Rose Ings, Head of Business and Economics, praised the pupils’ efforts, saying, “I want to congratulate all the C pupils who took part. They gained invaluable experience presenting and pitching their business ideas to the panel and applying their skills to raise funds for a worthy cause.”
Caroline de Mowbray, Head of E&I, added, “I was incredibly impressed by the entrepreneurial ambition displayed by pupils, as well as their teamwork, presentation skills and their ability to engage in meaningful Q&A.”
The event not only raised funds for charity but also encouraged a sense of entrepreneurship and innovation among the pupils.
Bryanston offers Business GCSE, A Level and a vocational CTEC course in Business with Marketing pathway.
