Celebrating International Women’s Day

7 March 2025

To celebrate International Women’s Day on Saturday 8 March, a selection of Year 12 (A3) female pupils led an Assembly for the whole school.

The special Assembly kickstarted the week and focused on inspirational women that have influenced them, including Maya Angelou, Nawal El Saadawi and Kamala Harris. There was also a focus on inspiring women who work at Bryanston.

Alongside the Assembly, we are recognising International Women’s Day with numerous initiatives around the school. These include a special BryRadio show scheduled for Week 8 and a page in the pupil-led Brogue magazine at the end of Spring term.

Our Basement corridor in the Main Building has been decorated with ‘Stars of Inspirational Women’ as a visual representation of celebrating women’s achievements. Pupils have been able to decorate stars and dedicate a star to a female of their choice.

A concert will take place on Friday evening celebrating women and their achievements.

Resident Graduate Katie Richards added: “International Women’s Day is a significant occasion celebrated globally to honour the achievements, contributions, and resilience of women throughout history. At Bryanston, we are marking this important event with a variety of activities, including a concert, a tribute to the ‘stars of inspirational women’, a thought-provoking assembly, and an International Women’s Day Show on Bry Radio.

“These events not only celebrate the progress made but also raise awareness about the challenges women continue to face. International Women’s Day provides an opportunity to reflect, educate, and inspire positive change, while encouraging a deeper commitment to gender equality.”
