Eight swimmers compete in the National Swimming Relays in London

21 March 2025

Eight Bryanston swimmers travelled to London to compete in the National Swimming Relays on Friday 7 March.

After a sightseeing tour of Central London on Thursday evening, seeing all the major landmarks, pupils arrived ready and raring to compete in the National Swimming Relays at the London Aquatics Centre on the Friday morning.

Both squads performed well in their heats with the girls (Bess B-M, Bibi A, Phoebe R and Abbie C) giving their best to the freestyle in the morning, while the boys (Harry J, Freddie H, Xavier A and Jasper G) made the most of their individual strengths in the medley in the afternoon.

Head of Swimming Richard Johnson commented: “With nearly 100 schools and so few spaces available in the final, neither team progressed through, but all athletes can be very proud of representing Bryanston at a major national competition. I hope they enjoyed the chance to compete at such a significant venue.

“Special mention must go to Abbie C and Jasper G who have been superb role models all year, and were brilliant at leading the two national teams with swimmers from D through to A2.

“The girls’ team is very young for an U18 competition and we look forward to them reaching their potential over the coming years. Credit must also go to our swim coach Dylan who has worked hard to improve and inspire the swimmers to be ready for the event.”
