Congratulations to 13 year old Year 9 pupil, Seni, who achieved the highest pentathlon score by an under 15 girl since Morgan Lake (the British high jumper who won the silver medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games) in 2010. Seni finished the season as fifth in class in the UK.

Angus Young, Head of Bryanston’s Swim, Bike, Run programme, commented: “Seni’s result is a reflection of all of the hard work and tough training sessions that she has worked through. This performance will inspire the rest of Team Bryanston to aim higher than ever before. Well done, Seni.”

On 5 October, Bryanston hosted the English Schools athletic association regional cup that included over 300 pupils from years 7 to 13 in 36 teams. Daisy came third in the intermediate girls’ class and Jack was placed eighth amongst senior boys.

And the powering on doesn’t stop! Daisy has been selected to join the South West Triathlon academy and Coco qualified to represent Dorset in the 50m freestyle.

Director of Sport, Rory McCann commented, “Swimming, cycling and running have experienced remarkable growth over recent years, both as individual sports and within the realm of multisport endeavours like triathlon. Bryanston’s programme aims to connect a cohesive team of athletes, each with their own unique goals.

“The programme it is open to any pupils from Year 11-13 and is open to all abilities. Sports Scholars in Year 9 upwards considered for early entry into the programme with permission from the Head of SBR / Director of Sport. We are very lucky to have our Head of Swim, Bike, Run Angus Young on our teaching staff as Chemistry teacher. Angus has achieved international representation in triathlon, winter triathlon, and cycling, earning three podium finishes at the European and World Championships. Angus is still actively competing in endurance cycling, recently setting world records and winning prestigious races like the Pan Celtic and Highland Trail 550. Alongside his sporting endeavours, he has seven years of coaching experience including a Level 3 cycling coaching qualification.”

In March 2024, Bryanston will be hosting a Triathlon event with an estimated 1000 pupils.
