Movember is a charitable project funding more than 1,250 men’s health projects around the world, shaking up men’s health research and transforming the way health services reach and support men. Projects cover mental health, suicide prevention, testicular cancer and prostate cancer.
In support of Movember, Bryanston has arranged a number of events and initiatives in school, including:
- House Assemblies – pupils are leading assemblies in their boarding houses to increase awareness about Movember and referencing the charity’s motto, “Don’t man up, Open up!”
- Older pupils are teaming up with younger pupils to discuss wellbeing and mental health.
- Tea and Biscuit Morning for all staff and students on Tuesday 19 November in the Dining Hall, to encourage ‘Healthier conversations, healthier conceptions, healthier communities’.
- A designated Moustache wearing day has been set aside for Saturday 30 November, where moustaches will be worn during lessons and afternoon activities, to encourage online donations.
Jonny Owen, Teacher of Physical Education & PSRE, commented: “It’s been superb to see the support so far from pupils and staff, getting behind the events and fundraisers organised at the school and helping to be the driving force behind Movember and campaign awareness for the charity.”
