Bryanston’s School Choir travelled to Tuscany over the Easter holidays, performing in multiple venues.
After a very early start, the group arrived at Montecatini Terme and spent the afternoon exploring the town. Over the four days, the Choir gave three wonderful concerts in stunning churches in Lucca, Florence and Empoli. Chiesa di San Salvatore in Ognissanti in Florence was filled with paintings, including works by Botticelli and Ghirlandaio and Puccini was even known to have played the organ at San Paolino in Lucca.
The Choir’s performance at each concert was superb, covering a range of sacred music from Allegri’s Miserere to Karl Jenkins’ Benedictus from The Armed Man. There was also time for sight-seeing and excursions as the group visited the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Uffizi Gallery. On the final day, the Choir took the Funiculare Di Montecatini to take in the breathtaking views across the region.
Director of Music Xavier Iles, commented: “It was a wonderful few days of singing and exploring Tuscany, and of course eating plenty of gelato!”
