The Politics Department took Year 13 (A2) pupils to Westminster on Monday 25 November. Pupils had a guided tour of the Houses of Parliament, including the House of Lords and House of Commons.
Following this, the group had a private Q&A with North Dorset’s MP, Simon Hoare. Pupils engaged Simon in conversation concerning his chairing of the Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee, and questioned him on IHT on agricultural land, the assisted dying bill and abolition of hereditary peers.
Following lunch, the group had an excellent tour of the UK Supreme Court, learning its history, composition and interaction with the other two branches of government.
Our Politics department serve as mentors, guiding pupils through their political journey, encouraging independent thinking, and nurturing academic growth.
