A2 pupil Archie W travelled to Bali over the summer holidays to volunteer with a local conservation team and work with turtles.
Archie stayed on an island named Nusa Panida and spent two weeks volunteering in the community, helping to look after the endangered turtles, helping to clean them and their tanks, and creating enrichment aids.
Commenting on the experience of a lifetime, Archie said: “It was an amazing few weeks and I particularly loved helping the community by picking up rubbish on the beaches and on the island. Finally at the end of volunteering, I was able to release ten turtles that had been at the facility, back into the wild.”
Lisa Kearney, Head of International Pathways, commented: “We are so proud of our sixth formers and their incredible achievements, both in and out of school. We encourage our pupils to pursue pioneering activities, charitable programmes and outdoor education activities and fully support their endeavours. In this way they can find projects they are passionate about and this may guide their choices for future courses and careers.”
