Pre-Prep

Family-focused School

Our Nursery and Pre-Prep is where the Bryanston journey begins, welcoming children from age 3 to our happy, creative and forward thinking school.

A child’s first experiences of school are special, and our creative and stimulating classroom settings with our dedicated and experienced teaching staff, ensure your child has the best start to their education.

The Pre-Prep is a school within a school. A safe and secure place to play, learn, explore and discover the world through a balance of adult and child-led activities and hands-on investigating. This seamless integration from learning through play to classroom led teaching is a priority for our staff.

Investigative play

Play is an essential part of the learning process, and our children regularly take their learning outside.

The Pre-Prep not only benefits from its own enclosed adventure playground but they actively use the 30 acre site each day for sport, play and exploration.

A family-centric ethos

A strong sense of family is key in the Pre-Prep. Our children feel part of the greater school community and we actively create opportunities for our children to make friends and play with the older children in the Prep School.

We consider ourselves as one big extended family and encourage the ‘big sibling’ role in our older pupils.

Our children come to know the staff in the Prep School early on and are taught by specialist teachers for French, digital studies, music, gymnastics, art, swimming and PE.

The Pre-Prep also attends a weekly whole school celebration assembly, again, maintaining a strong sense of family and the Senior Leadership Team gives regular assemblies to the Pre-Prep too.

Nursery and Reception

With small class sizes, our children are encouraged and nurtured to become confident and independent learners in all aspects of school life.

The opportunities to achieve their potential and thrive are woven through the school day so that by the end of their final year with us, our children are fully prepared for the excitement and challenges of moving into Year 3 and the Prep School.

Outdoor learning

Outdoor learning in our beautiful surroundings is an integral part of our curriculum and school ethos.

In the Pre-Prep, children are not confined by four walls, but have daily access to an abundance of learning opportunities and experiences outside, whatever the weather.

Movement prompts the development of the brain and body – giving our children the freedom to move is a key focus of learning in the Pre-Prep. Our children are provided with daily opportunities to access activities that focus on the key movement senses, tactile, proprioception and vestibular which all goes to support their learning and overall development.

All Pre-Prep children have a weekly Forest School afternoon for free explorative play as well as regular ‘out and about’ sessions which take the form of a planned activity to further develop and extend each child’s knowledge and understanding of the world we live in.
