Prep School

Set in an idyllic rural location in Dorset, Bryanston Prep School is a day and boarding prep and pre-prep school for boys and girls aged 3-13.

Bryanston Prep School is set amongst its own 30 acres of countryside on the 400 acre Bryanston Estate

For our girls and boys, aged 3 to 13, education is not limited to the classroom. We encourage creative, independent learning, where children have the freedom to explore within the safety of the grounds, whether it be in our Forest School, within our equestrian centre or simply playing outside in our beautiful grounds.

When your child joins us, they will become part of a warm extended family. They will grow with us as we guide them in developing the skills and confidence to embrace new academic interests, creative pursuits, and hobbies.

Bryanston Prep is the start of an exciting journey which fires-up and fans the flames of young minds, keeping curiosity ablaze.

Prep School Children Learning Outdoors

Curiosity, creativity and confidence through outdoor learning

We make the most of our stunning location and believe learning from nature is fundamental to sparking a natural, playful and instinctive curiosity in children. Education stretches far beyond the classroom and our children are outdoors as much as possible, learning from and in nature.

Our Forest School is timetabled for children in the Lower Prep, and Forest School days and sleepovers for the Upper Prep children. Tree-climbing is encouraged as well as building dens, exploring the gardens or helping to look after our animals.

Learning through outdoor play encourages an adventurous spirit, confidence, a questioning mind, and above all, adds fun to learning.

We’re delighted to have won the award for ‘Best of the Best Prep School for Country Prep‘ in the 2024 The Week, Independent Schools Guide.

Nursery and Pre-Prep

Form tutor mentoring for Years 3 to 6

Every child is unique and this is something we celebrate and encourage at Bryanston Prep. Children are mentored by their form tutor during Years 3 to 6 allowing tutors to get to know your child on a personal, one-to-one basis.

This enables our teaching team to understand them as an individual and tailor teaching methods to suit each child. Trust and understanding grows and develops between child and tutor during these significant early years.

Individual mentoring from Year 7

Following in the footsteps of the innovative and successful Bryanston Method, Bryanston Prep School provides individual mentoring for children in Years 7 and 8 from age 11-13.

One-to-one mentoring helps develop a mutually trusting, open and understanding relationship. It encourages accountability and opens up communication and deeper questioning.

This is especially helpful when children are starting the process of transitioning to their senior school which is a big step in their educational journey.

If your child is staying with us and moving up to Bryanston Senior School, this mentorship at prep level helps make the move even more seamless. This is especially noticeable in the continuity of pastoral care and for those children who have been receiving extra help for special educational needs or disabilities (SEND).
