A modern and flexible approach to boarding

Boarding is firmly rooted in a home-from-home, family approach with day children completely integrated into our weekly, flexi and occasional boarding community. We believe this flexible approach to boarding offers children a fun boarding experience with friends, whilst also meeting the needs of modern day busy working families.

In Booker House, named after the original family who founded the school here in 1950, our light and airy dorms are set up so that your child will share a room with one friend or more. We hold weekly themed nights where Lower and Upper Prep non-boarders can have a sleepover with their friends and enjoy the evening activities.

Flexi-boarding also gives children the opportunity to ease into boarding as they move up the years in the prep school, ready for senior school boarding life.

During your child’s stay at Booker House we provide them with plenty of opportunities to socialise with friends, participate in sporting activities, play musical instruments, work on their homework during prep sessions and enjoy the homely atmosphere.

Fun-filled weekends

Our boarding staff carefully organise our weekend activities for full boarders ensuring we achieve the right balance of fun activities along with some down time to allow children to relax in a homely environment.

Each term a programme of weekends is published so the children know what’s happening and can look forward to the weekend activity. Some weekends there are ‘in-house’ activities where we make our own entertainment in school; other weekends we organise fun trips away from school.

Boarders make full use of the senior school facilities during weekends, which include fun swims, bouldering, a wide range of sports and visits to the popular Bryanston café.

International pupils

International pupils joining Bryanston Prep can choose to board for just a month or a term to try it out – many then stay for the year!

Many of our international and national pupils in Year 8 like to try out boarding in preparation for moving up to more full time boarding at the senior school.

The benefits of boarding

Boarding at Bryanston Prep allows children to learn how to live together, while developing independence and self-confidence in a caring and family-focused environment.

We recognise that boarding means something different to each family and we work with you to find the most suitable pathway for your child to experience all the exciting opportunities that boarding at Bryanston Prep can bring.

Our boarders come from the local community, across the UK, and around the world, adding a positive multicultural mix to our school. Day pupils and boarders all integrate happily, making life-long friendships that continue throughout Bryanston and beyond.
