The Heart of Bryanston: The Boarding House

Our campus is home to 12 boarding houses, often referred to as the heartbeats of Bryanston. This is where pupils unwind, pursue academic interests and forge lifelong friendships.

Boys Boarding House - Salisbury Kitchen

A home from home

Each house is a home away from home, thanks to the collaboration between friends, tutors, prefects, residents and the entire boarding house team.

House Parents and Matrons provide daily support and guidance in every boarding house. Their accessibility, combined with informal living spaces, creates a warm and relaxed atmosphere. They are the first to notice any subtle changes in a pupil’s demeanour, ensuring prompt action if any concerns arise.

Our tutors, who are assigned to every pupil and meet with them on a one-on-one basis weekly, support not only academic progress but also personal and emotional development. Our tutor system ensures that every pupil, whether a boarder or day pupil, receives consistent support throughout their time with us.

Emotional wellbeing

Whether a pupil needs casual check-ins, specific counselling or more specialised interventions, our diverse Mental and Emotional Health team is here to help. Located within our campus Medical Centre, we offer a range of therapies, ensuring pupils get the precise care they need.

Our trauma -informed team understands the profound impact adverse childhood experiences can have on behaviours and wellbeing during adolescence.

Our commitment to mental health has been recognised with two national awards for wellbeing.

Janet Velasco - House Parent

Partnering with parents

We work closely with parents and guardians to build a trusting partnership. Our House Parents and tutors maintain regular communication with parents to ensure that every child receives the appropriate support and guidance during their most formative adolescent years.
