Health and Wellbeing

Medical Centre

We have a dedicated medical centre on campus, always ready, always caring.

Our team comprises nurses, paramedics, and physiotherapists. Many continue to serve the NHS, bringing their up-to-date expertise directly to our pupils. Dr Rene Skule, our School Medical Officer, advises on clinical best practice and works alongside other GPs who regularly visit the school.

How we ensure our pupils’ health and well-being

Each pupil is assigned a named nurse who manages their medical care. Every new boarding pupil undergoes a medical evaluation with the school doctor during their first term to ensure and track their physical health.

All pastoral and medical staff who administer medicines are externally accredited. They meet the criteria established by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society GB and undergo frequent audits.

Medical Centre Consultation

Early intervention and education

Our medical staff complement the pastoral team. The team focuses on understanding the individual, making connections that ensure each pupil feels that they have a trusted, trained medical team they can turn to throughout their time at Bryanston.

Beyond immediate care, our aim is for pupils to understand and manage their own well-being with the assurance we are there for them at any time.

Confidentiality is paramount, and we make sure communication is in the best interest of the student’s safety and well-being.

Medical Centre Reception

Round-the-clock medical care

Be it a minor ailment or something more immediate, our medical centre doors are always open. From regular GP clinics, specialist nurse clinics, and inpatient care, to efficient referrals to secondary care support, we ensure our pupils receive timely and expert care.

We also emphasise parental involvement, especially when managing chronic conditions.

Safety is our top priority. From sporting events to daily activities, we’re always prepared for immediate first aid and trauma response.

Our medical centre operates a 24/7 injury triage, and our Musculoskeletal and Physiotherapy team ensures pupils are rehabilitated and back in action promptly.

We uphold the gold standard in head injury assessments and partner with coaches for a safe return to play.

Medical Centre Physiotherapist

Musculoskeletal (MSK) Team

A significant highlight is our dedicated on-site MSK team. With a keen focus on sports injuries and musculoskeletal conditions, our physiotherapists are available Monday to Saturday.

Working in tandem with our medical professionals, they ensure seamless care and collaborate with sports teams, providing essential pitch-side first aid.

Our physiotherapy services include:

  • Injury assessment and management
  • Bio-mechanical injuries
  • Addressing critical conditions such as low back pain, shoulder pain, anterior knee pain, ligament sprains, and more
  • Expert post-operative orthopaedic care.

We surround each pupil with a network of care and support, ensuring they flourish in every aspect of their time at school.
