Nick Williams

Head of Rugby

Why do we play rugby?

Our rugby programme is modern, dynamic, and promotes a team-first culture.

As an invasion-based team game, rugby teaches skills such as effective communication, strategic leadership and fast, tactical decision making. It provides a wonderful environment in which to learn meaningful transferable life skills like resilience and commitment.

In a world where such skills have as much value as subject knowledge, it has a profoundly important place for us as a school and aligns with our strong rugby history.

Rugby allows us to build better people through it, not just for it.

Rugby

An introduction to rugby at Bryanston

Our Head of Rugby Nick Williams talks about fostering a love of the game at Bryanston and the transformative impact it can offer to pupils on and off the pitch.

Who can play rugby?

Rugby is available to boys of all ages and abilities. The Autumn term provides a comprehensive and competitive training and 15 a side fixture programme. This includes entry into county and national cup competitions.

Rugby 7s is available to boys of all ages in the Spring term, with our teams competing in county and nationally recognised school tournaments.

In the Summer term, a touch rugby and conditioning programme continues. We have recently started a non-contact Rugby 7s activity in the Summer term to encourage more girls to play the game.

We have a close relationship with Bath Rugby and regularly have boys and our coaching staff represented in the DPP programmes through from U14- U18.
