Individual Approach

One-to-one – The Bryanston Method

In today’s rapidly changing world, the need for personalised approaches has never been greater. Every pupil is unique, with distinct strengths, areas for development and different learning styles.

Before arrival, every pupil is assigned a personal tutor, who is a member of the academic staff. The tutor meets with their tutees one-to-one weekly, guiding them on their academic and personal growth throughout their time at Bryanston. In the Sixth Form this relationship becomes crucial as pupils prepare applications for universities, apprenticeship schemes, or the workplace.

By the Sixth Form, pupils spend as much time outside the classroom as inside – in one-to-one discussions (known as Correction Periods or CPs) with individual subject teachers, undertaking their own research during assignment periods and working in prep time in the boarding houses.

This individual and personal engagement promotes a mature way of learning, enabling pupils to take responsibility for their academic development. It allows them to achieve their potential and prepares them for life after school.

Balance between teaching and learning is critical to individual achievement. Our support system, via our online weekly assessment chart, allows pupils to track their progress and encourages independent learning both in and out of the classroom as soon as they are ready, and certainly by the time they leave.
