A great day for rugby sevens at Bryanston
On Saturday Bryanston welcomed 20 schools from across South England and Wales for the annual rugby sevens competition.
Bryanston’s 1st VII had a good day on home ground, making it through to the finals for the third year in a row. The team were victorious in all of their group matches, beating Abingdon 26-19 (coached by OB Henry Barnes), King Edward’s Bath 36-0, King Edward’s Southampton 48-0 and Taunton 53-0. In the semi-final of the Cup they won a tight game against Colston’s 19-12, with James Ixer scoring a hat trick. In the final the boys sadly lost to a very impressive Kingswood side, who have already won three competitions this year, to place second. Nevertheless it was a very rewarding day watched by one of the biggest sevens crowds at Bryanston in recent history. The side now move on to the highly prestigious Surrey sevens this Wednesday and the Nationals at Rosslyn Park next week.
