Bryanston mother and daughter helping to sew scrubs for nurses
Bryanston Teacher of Geography Lisa Kearney and daughter Evelyn, a Bryanston pupil, are helping to sew scrubs for nurses and healthcare staff during these unprecedented times.
Due to COVID-19 there is a national shortage of nurses’ scrubs, face masks and long-sleeved gowns. The Friends of The Yeatman Hospital in Sherborne put out a request for volunteers to help.
Lisa is one of a number of helpers playing their part in contribution to the national response and answered an appeal for those with sewing skills. After an initial assessment, the Yeatman provided Lisa with material and a pattern for the scrubs. Lisa and her daughter are now volunteering their time and helping to make surgical scrubs.
Evelyn, a pupil at Bryanston, is helping to assemble the pattern and cut out the fabric, as well as sewing a few seams too.
Since the order for the Yeatman has been completed, Lisa has continued to sew scrubs, having joined a local group ‘The Blandford Scrubers.’ This group is busy making scrubs for nurses and care workers in the Blandford area.
