Junior Bands Concert full of professionalism and determination
On 31 January the Elder Concert Hall became the venue for this year's Junior Bands Concert.
Our resident engineer, Tim Pennells, designed and ran a 'silent stage' for the occasion, utilising an electric drum kit, routing audio signals all over the music school to amp rooms and through the studio, before putting it all through the concert hall speakers!
Otis S opened the occasion with an incredible percussive solo piece for guitar, before handing over to an all-girl band from B, who played Bobby McFerrin's classic feel good song, Don't Worry Be Happy. This year's D band also gave a tight, professional debut performance, playing both Molly's Chambers by American rock band Kings of Leon and the Kinks' song You Really Got Me. The only C band in the concert, assisted by Mr Baker, made their debut appearance with Back in the USSR, borrowed from The Beatles' White Album.
As ever, all musicians conducted themselves with professionalism and determination. The Coade Hall team also deserve special mention and thanks for their lighting design and ideas, transforming our beautiful concert hall into a rock venue for the evening.
