Port Regis String Afternoon
On Friday 20 April, around 30 Port Regis pupils came to Bryanston to perform a joint concert with the Bryanston String Chamber Orchestra.
The concert was the culmination of a lot of hard work the previous term from the Port Regis pupils, whose experience varied enormously from beginner to more advanced with specific parts written to match. The concert opened with Bryanston pupil Freddie F directing and playing the solo violin part to Telemann's Violin Concerto in G major accompanied by the Bryanston strings. Port Regis pupil, Annabelle, joined the Bryanston string chamber orchestra as soloist performing Berceuse by Jarnefelt. This was then followed by all the Port Regis string players joining the Bryanston strings in a performance of Vivaldi's Concerto in B minor for 4 violins, cello and strings. Bruno from Port Regis joined Samantha, Kate and Freddie from Bryanston as one of the violin soloists and rose to the challenge of playing this difficult music.
The concert ended with everyone performing a lively rendition of La Cumparsita; Tango argentine by Rodriguez. A huge thank you to the Director of Music of Port Regis, Shaun Bracey, and his team of excellent music teachers who enabled this project to happen and prepared the Port Regis pupils so well.
