Graham Giffiths lectures
On Wednesday 10 January, we were thrilled to welcome back, for a second time in recent years, OB Dr. Graham Griffiths to deliver two lectures to pupils.
The first talk, entitled In search of Stravinsky’s piano teacher – Musical adventures in Russia told of Graham’s recent work researching the life and music of Leokadiya Kashperova (1872-1940). We were pleased to hear that the BBC are to feature some of her recently-discovered music in a programme about female composers in March this year, as a result of Graham’s work.
The second lecture, Franz Schubert, the Piano and the Power of Friendship was delivered to a healthy audience in the Elder Hall and featured a number of delightful piano performances (by Graham himself) of the repertoire under discussion.
