D Scholars perform an exceptional first concert
The D Scholars’ Concert took place in front of a very large audience in the recital room on Wednesday 7 February.
This was the first performance for our current D scholars and they all did themselves incredibly proud.
William S began the concert with a performance of Sonata Op. 6 – I. Allegro by Eberl on the piano. Fergus T followed with Tchaikovsky’s Chanson Napolitaine on the trumpet. Lewis H played Dialogue by Louis Marchand on the chamber organ. Conrad E performed Valse Op. post 69 No. 2 by Chopin from memory on the piano. Thomas P played The House of Eliott by Jim Parker on the French horn. Eliza H played Libertango by Piazzolla on the violin. Fergus T returned to sing A Blackbird Singing by Michael Head. Otis S performed Cycling Song by Chris Stock on the vibraphone. Lewis H returned to play the well-known piece, Gabriel’s Oboe by Ernio Morricone. Samuel A sang A Green Cornfield by Michael Head. William S returned to play Debussy’s La plus que lente on the saxophone. The final piece was a performance by Conrad E, Concertino for trumpet & piano, I. Moderato by Albrechtsberger.
Thanks as always to the accompanists, William Ings, Graham Scott and Matthew Shenton. This was a seriously good first outing from this exceptional group of young scholars - well done to you all.
