Bryanston obtains grant from Low Carbon Dorset in a bid to reduce carbon footprint
Published: 20 June 2022
In a bid to reduce our carbon footprint, we have been successful in obtaining a grant from Low Carbon Dorset for an LED lighting upgrade project.
This is brilliant news for both Bryanston and Bryanston Knighton House. We will be upgrading the following areas:
- Senior school – Technology workshop, squash courts and Grey sports hall.
- Prep school – Main building (excluding bedrooms) classrooms and gym.
The energy savings are 36,714 kWh p.a. This equates to 19 tonnes CO2e p.a. using the agreed 2016 carbon intensities. The cost per tonne is therefore £1,332.
Estates Operations Manager Jess Lutwyche, commented: “The facilities at Bryanston are widely used, so it is imperative that the lighting be as high efficiency as possible. A switch to LEDs will provide excellent carbon and financial savings.”
Our project has been part funded by Low Carbon Dorset as part of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and will save over 19 tonnes of CO2 each year.
